2025 Shipping Rate Increases Begin Next Week
As the holiday rush begins to wind down and we begin to look forward to 2025, let’s have a look at the shipping rate increases on the horizon.
UPS – 2025 rate increases go into effect December 23, 2024
UPS Air Freight (within and between the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico: 6.0% increase
UPS® Ground: 5.9% increase
UPS® Air: 5.9% increase
UPS International: 5.9% increase
Beginning January 27, 2025, UPS is rolling out new calculations for large packages. It’s replacing the “length plus girth” method for Additional Handling Charges to a cubic volume model. Large Package Surcharges will be based on a mix of length, weight, or cubic volume. Specific packages, those bulky but light, will have a minimum 40 pound minimum billable weight.

FedEx Rate Hike
FedEx is rolling out a 5.9% rate hike on January 6, 2025 and will be implementing surcharges for residential deliveries, outsize packages, and shipments to certain zip codes. International shipments will get hit with a new international fuel surcharge based on jet fuel prices.

USPS Increases
The United States Postal Service has proposed price increases of 3.2 percent for Priority Mail service and Priority Mail Express service, 3.9 percent for USPS Ground Advantage and 9.2 percent for Parcel Select to go into effect on January 19, 2025 pending approval from the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC). https://about.usps.com/newsroom/national-releases/2024/1115-usps-recommends-new-competitive-prices-for-2025.htm
DHL
DHL Express (for U.S. account holders) will increase on January 1, 2025 by 5.9% .
